Harry Potter and the wait was worth it! 8

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceSnape comes out as a “bad guy”, hormones run amock, and the hunt for Voldemort‘s soul begins. That is the best of a series of great things that happen in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This film is intense, not necessarily full of action, but it sucks you in from the first images of Death Eaters attacking London’s Millennium Bridge.

I have to say that it’s fairly faithful to the book. I read it a couple of years ago, so I was just remembering everything during the course of the film, and getting all excited for the final installment, I hadn’t realized how much of a setup this one is for Deathly Hollows. But on its own, it’s a very good film, although you do need to know about the story’s first five years to completely understand it. I loved the chemistry between the characters, the romances that have started to brew, the hatred that fuels even more their revenge against the Dark Lord, and the foreshadowing of events that will be emotionally compelling.

Overall, this film did what the book makes you feel, granted lots had to be left off, but was still comprehensible. The only downsides i saw in it were that it feels somewhat slow and long at points, while they brush off very important things as just passersby (minor spoiler alert, like when the Half-Blood prince is revealed they don’t explain anything, he just says he’s the one and leaves).

Loved it, the tension was there, the melancholy was there (the death at the end is heartbreaking), the darkness was there, even good funny parts were there. Really worth the wait. It’s by far one of the best of the series, along with Prisoner of Azkaban. Now I’m hyper-excited for the final battle of good vs. evil.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood PrinceMr. Harry Potter is breaking records left and right. Following the 6th movie’s record midnight showings in North America, the numbers are in for the first full world-wide day of release, and it’s staggering. Just on wednesday, the film earned $104 million dollars, making it the most succesfull ‘Potter‘ movie opening to date and shattering previous records held by ‘The Dark Knight‘ and ‘Transformers 2‘ in most countries. I still can’t wait to see it! I’m set to go tomorrow!

Star Trek on Blu-RayPer ComingSoon.net, Star Trek is coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 17, and this one’s gonna be a big one. It’s coming out with the usual stuff, director commentary, digital copy, deleted scenes, behind the scenes look at the whole production, bloopers, galleries. But it will also contain features on how they adapted the all the previous storylines and history of the universe and characters from the films and tv series to make this reboot.

It will come in 1-disc DVD with just the movie and some simple special features, a special edition 2-disc DVD and 3-disc Blu-Ray with all the behind the scenes stuff, and an incredible new feature they call “augmented reality technology” in which you hold up an image that will come in the case to your webcam while inside a website, it will recognize it and grant you access to a full-on holographic 3D tour of the Enterprise.

Michael Jackson - Thriller3 weeks after his untimely death, Michael Jackson is looking like the artist to beat at the music store. His ‘Essential: Michael Jackson‘ album and many of his singles are still high on the charts, especially on digital retailers like iTunes and Amazon MP3. It’s almost becoming a centainty that he’ll become the biggest recording artist of 2009, and all from albums that are either hits compilations or full-on releases from 15-25 years ago! I’ve got to admit, it’s awesome music, so right on people! make him the superstar he deserved to still be!
