Every friday brings my top 24 songs of the week, they’re from different genres, based mostly on the Billboard Charts (Hot 100, Pop, Rock & Alternative), the American Top 40, and my personal likes and dislikes. So look for it every Friday!
This week brings the 3rd. consecutive #1 week for Green Day‘s “Know Your Enemy“, while we have only one debut song, Mariah Carey‘s “Obsessed” at #23.

Billboard charts are out again, and Daughtry now oficially has a #1 debut album, making “Leave This Town” their second consecutive #1 (their debut, “Daughtry“, hit #1 in it’s 9th week of release). And is the first album to have more sales than a Michael Jackson album after his death last month, selling 269,000 copies to MJ’s 192,000 of “Number Ones“.
Per Reuters, last week’s Billboard 200 champ, Maxwell’s “BLACKsummers’night,” slipped to No. 2 with 103,000. The “Hannah Montana 3” soundtrack was also down one, to No. 3, with 73,000, as was the “Now 31” compilation at No. 4 with 69,000. The Black Eyed Peas’ “The E.N.D.” held at No. 5 with 54,000.

so I’m a fan of American Idol season 5′s 4th place finisher… I still believe he shoulda won the whole thing. Just wanted to start off with that…
Daughtry released their second studio album this week. After reading reviews and actually listen to the record, I have to agree with concensus: Leave This Town is Daughtry (the album) v/2.0. It’s somewhat a good thing, but mostly not. Listening to the full album makes you feel like you’re listening to leftovers from their debut, it sounds all the same, with no standout hits, though they all feel like they’ll be in the charts for a long run.
This is a solid album, not really a bad one, only somewhat boring at times. It’s just that we’ve heard all this before, from Staind to Three Days Grace to Nickelback to 3 Doors Down, and most of all, from themselves. There’s no new sound, no innovation, just same ol’ Daughtry.
My Grade: C+
