The FOX network has announced that the episode titled “Partial Terms of Endearment” from Family Guy‘s upcoming season will not air on the network.
This episode was mentioned during the show’s Comic Con session this past weekend by series creator Seth McFarlane, and as always makes fun of a topical subject, this time, abortion. The network was quoted as saying they’re “scared to fucking death of this“. But they fully support the production and let the creators the freedom of doing it and distributing it as they will.
The episode will most probably be included in that season’s DVD, and be shown in international markets.
Omni Consumer Products has officially licenced the name brand of “Tru Blood” from HBO to sell the beverage that is well known in the True Blood series.
The drink, which in the show is made to be a blood replacement for vampires to feed on instead of human blood, will be a mixture of orange and slightly tart and tangy flavors, and will come in a bottle similar to the one depicted on the hit HBO drama.
Tru Blood was announced during Comic Con this past weekend by series creator Alan Ball. It will be in stores in September. For more info go to trubloodbeverage.com
Comic Con continues to bring news from the pop culture world. This time it was the turn for ABC’s LOST, a preview of season 6. Head writers and creators, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse were on hand, like always, teasing everything.
The big news… it looks like season 6 will have an alternate reality, they will show most probably what would’ve happened if their plane hadn’t crashed, the lives of the characters in the real world, having Hurley own Clucky’s Chicken, and Kate being on “America’s Most Wanted“. That is mainly why almost all of the original cast members are coming back, like Maggie Grace and Dominic Monaghan.
They also mentioned that the flash forwards are gone, time traveling is done, and that season 6 will be its own entity.
Gary Oldman said in an interview that the next installment of the new Batman franchise is scheduled to start filming in 2010.
It has been revealed that Michael Keaton will voice Ken in the upcoming Toy Story 3, in which Barbie will have a bigger role.
Peter Jackson, in the panel for his produced film District 9, commented that the first draft for The Hobbit is almost done, and after that they will start making revisions and start the casting process. He says that there are around 4-5 dwarfs in the story that will truly stand out, out of the dozen in the film.
It had been rumored that Lostie Dominic Monaghan would appear in one of ABC’s shows next season and it was finally revealed in which one. FlashForward will have him looking into the future and then deciding if he’ll just let life be or do something to change his fate.
And ComingSoon.net has the featurette that was shown for Where The Wild Things Are on their website.
The first full day of the San Diego Comic Con International ended with a big 3D bang. James Cameron was at hand to showcase 24 minutes of his upcoming digital extravaganza, “Avatar“, which will be released on December 18, after 4 years of production and many many more in planning.
It was reported that the film and effects look amazing, the 3D looks way better than anything before it, and the crowd was speechless.
In addition to the first glimpse, the production also announced that August 21 will be “Avatar Day“. That day you will be able to go to select digital and IMAX theaters and watch 15 minutes of the film in 3D for free. The same day will see the debut of a full-on trailer in IMAX, IMAX 3D, digital 3D, digital 2D and regular 35mm projections across the globe, along with an online release.
ComingSoon.net is reporting that they interviewed one of the heads of Disney features at the Comic Con floor, and he’s confident that they will start shooting in April of 2010 the 4th installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, for a tentative release in 2011.
Thinking of it as a reboot, scaling down the whole thing to just characters, this hopefully would be the first of a new trilogy. Without going into much detail he mentioned how there is much more of Jack Sparrow’s back story that can be drawn from, so who knows what they’re thinking of right now. So if all goes as planned we’ll probably be seeing a Pirates panel next year at Comic Con 2010.
Disney kicked off the very first 3D panel at San Diego Comic Con International with presentations from their upcoming digital 3D films. They went in order of how they’ll be released, starting with Robert Zemeckis’s “A Christmas Carol“.
This film, starring Jim Carrey in 8 different characters, will be nothing new to Zemeckis, it’s his followup to 2007′s “Beowulf“, a motion capture extravaganza presented in digital 3D. In the panel, moderated by Ratatouille‘s Patton Oswalt, Zemeckis continued his admiration of the technology he’s been using since “The Polar Express“, and in a Q&A session where he was asked about a possible sequel to his 80′s hit “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?“, he just replied he wouldn’t confirm or deny that it’s going to happen, but if it does, that the 2D characters would continue being 2D as it was in the original film.
The second part of Disney’s presentation brought Tim Burton to his first ever Comic Con appearence. They showed a trailer almost identical to the one that was released yesterday, but according to descriptions, it was edited differently, this time with a soundtrack of MGMT‘s “Time to Pretend“. Afterwards in the Q&A session, Burton mentioned that the story in this film is based on all of Lewis Carroll’s work, not just the “Alice” novel. The panel ended with him bringing out his “immaginary friend”, Johnny Depp, and announcing that his next project will be yet again with Depp, an adaptation of the cult tv series “Dark Shadows“.
The third section was dedicated to “Tron Legacy” (click the image for a larger version), which is apparently the title the sequel is getting. They just finished shooting a scene in Vancouver last week, and they quickly cut it, where Sean Flynn goes into the old Flynn Arcade and sees the original Tron arcade video game. They also showed concept art for the interior of the computer system, an updated disc wars image, designs for the new light cycles and the 2-person lightrunner, and other random stuff. Also of note, they mentioned that Daft Punk has already composed 24 tracks for the soundtrack Nothing that big from the Tron panel this year.
And that’s it for now… more Comic Con info to come, for sure.
Also prepping for their big presentations at San Diego Comic Con International are two films that have just been upgraded.
With the rising success of films in IMAX and the growing number of theaters equipped with projectors, films are starting to be moved to that big format. And on the eve of Comic Con it was announced that the animated 3D adventure “Clowdy With a Chance of Meatballs” (Opening Sept. 18) and Spike Jonze’s “Where The Wild Things Are” (Opening Oct. 16) will receive the IMAX 3D and regular IMAX treatment, respectively.
The list of IMAX and IMAX 3D films just keeps on growing, with even more coming out later on this year and into 2010, like Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland” and “Toy Story 3“, James Cameron’s “Avatar” and more.
